Permanent makeup is one of the cosmetic treatments that is becoming increasingly popular today. With the lasting emphasis on the eyes, lips, or eyebrows, we can save a lot of time, cosmetics, and also significantly boost our self-confidence. Micropigmentation allows achieving natural effects and a subtle, gentle emphasis on our assets. Thus, we do not have to worry that the final effect will look unnatural, artificial, or seem exaggerated.

Micropigmentation is a great solution not only for all busy women who want to save some time spent on preparation. Many ladies also appreciate this procedure for the comfort it provides. Permanent makeup allows you to feel beautiful and confident at any moment, regardless of the situation. Permanent makeup is also a proven way for all women who cannot apply full makeup on their own and prefer to entrust this task to experts, then enjoy the effects for a long time.

However, permanent makeup is not just about convenience, faster preparation for work or another important outing, and saving cosmetics. It is also a proven and effective solution for those ladies who are not entirely satisfied with their beauty. Micropigmentation of the eyebrows or lips is a great way to improve the eyebrow arch when the hairs grow irregularly, are sparse, thin, or have visible gaps, as well as to improve the line and color of the lips. Thanks to such a procedure, imperfections can be effectively corrected, and even unruly hairs can be densified, and complexes can be forgotten.

What is permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup is an excellent way to highlight the lips, eyes, or eyebrows, and thus to highlight the assets of our beauty and improve imperfections and adjust color or shape. The procedure is performed by a linergist who always conducts a detailed interview with the client before performing it to exclude any contraindications. Before deciding on micropigmentation, always make sure that the salon we choose has a good reputation, and the person performing the procedure is properly qualified and has the appropriate certificates.

Micropigmentation, although it resembles the creation of a tattoo, is somewhat different from this type of procedure, even in terms of durability. Unlike popular body tattoos, the effects of permanent makeup last several months or even a few years. During the permanent makeup procedure, the skin is punctured with a needle, simultaneously introducing the appropriate pigment underneath. The durability of such a procedure and the final effect is influenced by many different factors, including the condition and type of the client's skin, the dyes used for the procedure, and the technique of performance, as well as the health condition or the cosmetics and supplements used.

What does the healing process of permanent makeup look like?

When we decide to undergo micropigmentation, we must realize that such an intervention in the skin requires a healing process. Actually, its course and duration are a very individual matter. However, it is worth remembering that proper care during this time is essential, and proper care for freshly made permanent makeup will allow you to go through the healing process quickly and efficiently and enjoy beautifully emphasized eyebrows, lips, or eyes. During healing, some skin reactions may also appear, which it is good to be prepared for, to avoid unnecessary stress.

First of all, it should be remembered that during micropigmentation, the dye is introduced under the skin with a needle, so after the procedure, the area subjected to it may be red, irritated, itchy, swollen, and even more sensitive than before or slightly sore. A few days after the permanent makeup, scabs appear, which is entirely normal. Fortunately, the skin regenerates quickly, so after about a week, the scabs should no longer be visible.

Equally important: for several days after making permanent makeup, the effect may seem much more intense than intended, and even slightly exaggerated. However, there is nothing to fear - the pigment gradually begins to fade, and about a month after the procedure, it reaches its final color. Sometimes during the healing process, it may seem that the color is too light, but this will also change. About 4 weeks after the micropigmentation, we will be able to see the full effect of healing. Then it will also be visible whether it will be necessary to undergo repigmentation.

What can't you do during healing after permanent makeup?

As mentioned, proper care during the healing process after permanent makeup is crucial. We must remember that this procedure is an intervention in the skin, and after it, it needs time to regenerate. The complete healing process after micropigmentation takes about 4 weeks, and during this time, the epidermis should have a chance for complete regeneration. You must not scratch or tear off the scabs that form during healing, which can lead to scarring and gaps. Also, refrain from scratching, and the scabs will fall off on their own after a few days.

During healing, the skin should be treated very gently, washing the face in areas subjected to micropigmentation very gently, without rubbing with a towel, without using gels based on alcohols, soaps with acids, or various scrubs. Instead, opt for a gentle, hypoallergenic cleanser. An essential issue is also avoiding situations where there is an increased risk of infection. You should give up the swimming pool and sauna until full healing. The skin after permanent makeup is much more susceptible to infections, and in such places, it is not difficult. High temperatures in the sauna can also cause irritation and delay the healing process, which will affect the final effect and pigment uptake.

Before full healing, you should also avoid tanning. Too early exposure to the sun can cause discoloration, and tanning, both in the sun and in the tanning bed, can cause lips or eyebrows to change color, even to a very dark one. Remember to protect the areas subjected to micropigmentation with high UV filters after healing. Before the skin heals entirely after permanent makeup, you should also give up colored makeup. For the first week, give up using mascara or lipstick, focusing entirely on care. It is also worth asking the linergist who performed the procedure for an appropriate moisturizing preparation, which we will use to smear the places after the micropigmentation.
