Po pierwsze, mistrzostwa są w pewnych kategoriach obiektywne – jak dobór sprzętu, pigmentu, igieł, techniki itp.; ale ocena prac w większości przypadków jest bardzo subiektywna i polega na wizualnym zaakceptowaniu prac przez grono jury. Jury ogląda zdjecie twarzy modelki „przed” oraz widzi na żywo pracę „po”. Na tej podstawie dokonuje oceny w kilku kategoriach, od estetyki na widocznych uszkodzeniach skóry. Słyszano już obiekcje, że jury wybierało najładniejszą modelkę, a nie najładniejszą pracę.
